(GCB) THE senior officer accused of an inappropriate relationship with the widow of slain Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding is Coomera district commander Steve Flori. Superintendent Flori was ordered to take extended leave on full pay after the scandal erupted last month. Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson has launched an investigation headed by the service’s human resources department. Superintendent Flori held his rank for five weeks before he was accused by co-workers of an inappropriate involvement with Sonya Leeding. [...] Mrs Leeding had only recently returned to her police career, accepting a position working directly with Superintendent Flori. She suddenly left the specially created position and returned to the Runaway Bay police station before taking extended leave after the relationship was reported. The city has embraced Mrs Leeding after the tragic death of her husband and donated more than $1 million to support Mrs Leeding and the couple’s children. Det Sen Constable Damian Leeding was hailed a hero after he was shot in the line of duty in late May as he confronted bandits involved in a hold-up at Pacific Pines Tavern. Read more

If I was a betting man and had our $1 million back, I’d bet Steve Flori has some connection to the murder of Officer Damian Leeding.
